This is a small island in the Seychelles just 2 km west of Mahe. The island which once used to contain a coconut plantation is now uninhabited. Conception, along with its sister island Therese, is part of Port Glaud district on Mahe. The island has recently been turned into a wildlife reserve and it is home to the extremely rare Seychelles white-eye and others such as the Seychelles kestrel, Seychelles blue pigeon and the Madagascar Turtle-dove, it is also home to 2 species of gecko. Recently 245 Seychelles White-eye were found on the island, out of around 400 found in the Seychelles.
Strong currents and huge waves make any approach far too dangerous, rendering the island inhospitable and impossible to land.
