Lying 50 km from Mahe, Felicite is one of the 4 sister satellite islands of La digue, the others being Ile Cocos, Marianne Island and Les Soeur (Grande Soeur and Petite Soeur). The island was once home to Sultan Abdullah of Perak in Malaysia, who was exiled here by the British for assassinating the Queen‘s representative in his country.
Although the island is largely granite rock, it is densely covered by natural vegetation right down to the shoreline, which makes it ideal for exploration. Perhaps the most attractive beach, La Penice, is situated only a few hundred metres from bungalow accommodation. Introduced and endemic species of plants live side by side in perfect harmony.
Felicite is also a diving heaven, enthusiasts are drawn from far and wide to swim among the magnificent coral reef and wonderful, rare species of marine life.
In 2008, the islands name was affectionately changed to ’Zil Pasyon‘ meaning ’Isle of Passion‘. The zil pasyon project comprises of 28 state of the art luxury villas, built to incorporate the perfect blend between sky, land and sea.
The sister islands of Felicite are also a must see, they offer excellent beaches and diving opportunities.
