In Seychellois families, with a large number of single parent families, women are the ones with the most authority in the Home. They are the ones who bare most of the responsibility of raising the children, ensuring the bills are paid and that food is well stocked. Where both parents are present, the opinion of the husband and father is solicited, but the final decision remains with the mother.
