Although the Seychelles does not have the biggest waves in the world, it is drawing surfers as the islands are less crowded than other destinations.
The best time of year to surf in Seychelles is from May to September during the south east trades.
The most popular islands for surfing are Mahe and Praslin; here you can rent a car and go in search of the best break. The east side of Mahe has the most consistent waves, while the west is inconsistent but can give a better payoff.
Seychelles has a long tradition of great windsurfing opportunities for novice and expert alike. Kite surfing is also popular, especially during Seychelles windier moments. You are advised to bring your own equipment.
Whilst partaking in any form of water sport it is advised that close attention be paid to currents and underlying reefs. Weak swimmers are encouraged to remain close to the shore.
2 watersports centres on Mahe are Beauvallon Aquatic Sports and Beauvallon Water Sports.
